Penn men's and women's basketball will look to pick up Ivy wins over Cornell on Saturday, as the women tip off at 4:30 while the men take the court at 7:00.

It doesn’t make much sense that a group that beat Villanova, Temple, and Miami (Fla.) this season has a 3-6 Ivy League record. But that’s what can happen when a team struggles to close games out in the final minutes. 

The Quakers’ disappointing conference play continued in a 79-77 loss to Columbia at the Palestra.

Last Saturday, both the men and women of Penn basketball suffered losses to Harvard, the first conference loss for the women all season, and a disappointing defeat for the men that dropped them to 3-5 among the Ancient Eight.

On Thursday, Penn Athletics announced that the remaining four home men’s basketball games will be broadcast live in Mandarin.

With three weekends left to play, there seem to be three camps with different visions for how the remainder of the season will play out. Let’s take a look at some of the more likely possibilities.

On Friday and Saturday, the Quakers will host Columbia and Cornell, respectively, at the Palestra. The Red and Blue are currently in fifth place in the Ivy League, tied with Brown.

After losing two consecutive Ivy League games to conclude the 2018 season, the Quakers now have their eyes set on their next matchup — a nonconference matchup against Delaware. 

A pair of juniors, Tim Sanford and Kyle Gallagher, are nothing short of ecstatic about their decisions to come join the Quakers from Denver and Hofstra, respectively.

On Saturday at the Palestra, the Quakers lost to No. 19 Princeton, 28-6, but followed that up with a 39-0 victory against California Baptist on Sunday afternoon.

Coming off a 5-2 record in Ivy League play and placing second in the conference, Penn looked to clinch the title this weekend. The squad took home a third place finish for the best finish in Penn squash history. 

This weekend, the men's and women’s teams traveled to New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational, and the Quakers proved their skill once again.
