John Yurkow has only been head coach of the varsity baseball team for a few weeks, but that hasn’t stopped him from already snagging a Connecticut recruit with some impressive baseball bloodlines: Bradley Wilpon.

After Penn promoted baseball assistant John Yurkow to the role of head coach, The Daily Pennsylvanian sat down with Yurkow to talk about his relationship with outgoing John Cole and his plan moving forward.

Ryan Deitrich won’t be returning to Penn for his final year of eligibility after missing his freshman campaign due to injury, but he’ll still be playing college baseball — as a Duke Blue Devil.



Men's Baseball vs Dartmouth

The Quakers (22-17, 7-9 Ivy) lost three of four in their series against the Big Red (21-14, 9-7), winning the first game, 6-0, before losing the last three contests, 4-2, 3-1 and 8-2 respectively.



Men's Baseball faces Yale.

By the end of the fourth, Penn (21-14, 6-6 Ivy) had burst the game wide open with a 9-0 lead over a seemingly helpless Lehigh (18-20, 5-7 Patriot) squad, finishing with a 13-2 victory. The game finished in a healthy 13-2 victory over.

Coach John Cole and his staff work towards the end of the year to put each player into one of several summer leagues around the country so they can improve throughout the offseason.
