I have been a die-hard sports fan for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was glued to my TV as I watched the Cavs and Warriors battle back-and-forth for four years straight in the NBA Finals, the Buckeyes destroyed that team up north every November for eight years straight (that will resume this fall), and my Bengals sadly following-up promising regular seasons with devastating playoff losses (thankfully that has changed). I would spend countless hours sharpening my sports knowledge and opinions through watching "First Take" and "Undisputed," or reading practically every article on ESPN.

Panera is discontinuing its Charged Lemonade amid several ongoing lawsuits alleging that the drink’s dangers were not made sufficiently accessible to customers — including one by the family of former Penn student Sarah Katz, who alleged that she died after consuming it.

More than one week into the encampment on College Green, with over 150 incidents of antisemitism and harassment reported to Penn Hillel, the public endorsement of two United States-designated terrorist organizations, and two American flags planted near the encampment being forcibly removed and damaged by protesters, students have had enough. It is time to end this antisemitic and anti-American encampment now.

Dear Tulia,

I am an international student from Kuwait — but many assume that I am American upon first meeting me. I have an American accent, tattoos, piercings, and no particular explicit indication of my identity as an Arab man; I do not wear a necklace in Arabic, and I have never worn Arab cultural attire around campus. So, why is it that I constantly have an opinion thrust upon me regarding campus protests and Israel-Palestine as a whole?

We write as faculty members seeking to sound an alarm. We urge Penn administrators and the Board of Trustees not to use police force against on-campus protesters. Real, good-faith negotiation is the path forward. First, because it is more likely to restore calm on our campus. Second, because our University, rightly, has already committed itself to upholding the principle of free expression.

In last year’s Ivy League Tournament championship game, top-seeded Penn women’s lacrosse took down Yale in overtime to complete its undefeated Ivy League season. This year, the roles were reversed as No. 8 Yale looked to beat No. 10 Penn for the second time this year to complete its own undefeated run of the Ancient Eight.

Yesterday morning, a billboard truck parked at the corner outside of my office on the University of Pennsylvania’s campus, at Walnut and 36th streets. It played a four-minute video loop of the Hamas terrorist attack of Oct. 7, 2023. These were horrific and painful images and sounds. Charred human bodies, a desperate mother fearing for her baby’s life, two young siblings crying and yelling that their older sister had been taken and was not coming back while their heartbroken parents tried in vain to console their children.

The last time No. 16 Penn men’s lacrosse faced off against No. 8 Cornell, the two teams graced Franklin Field with a double overtime thriller that saw the Quakers barely edge out the Big Red off the heroics of senior attacker Cam Rubin.

There are many ways to mark the conclusion of the school year. Classes end, traditional events like Hey Day and U-Night take place, and Locust Walk is littered with seniors taking graduation photos. Another is postseason play for spring sports. Having been competing since the bleak, cold days of February, teams are finally playing in the spring sunshine, and with stakes higher than ever.
