This semester, I somehow ended up with four out of my five classes being either directly or indirectly about ethics. As a political science major, I was really excited to take these classes, since whenever people talk about ethics nowadays, it mostly has to do with politics or international relations.

Mitt Romney, 76, a few weeks ago when announcing that he would not seek re-election in 2024. He also suggested that Trump, 77, and Biden, 80, should step down and allow younger candidates to be the ones to confront the new challenges in America that they have failed to address themselves.

When I first got into Penn, I remember everyone telling me to prepare myself for the high-pressure environment that everyone associates with Ivy League schools — especially with Penn’s notorious pre-professional culture. For months before even arriving on campus, I would picture myself spending days locked in a library studying for hours on end.

Summer is an eagerly anticipated time for most students at Penn, but it holds a special significance for international students. For us, it is a real opportunity to return home after spending months away across the world from our families and friends.

People from all over the world come to Penn for a variety of reasons, whether for the quality of education, the job opportunities, or the romanticized idea of the college experience. And for a lot of international students, coming to Penn is also their first experience living in America. Sometimes, it is not at all what they expected.
