A Wharton graduate student has been diagnosed with measles, according to a University-wide e-mail sent Wednesday afternoon.
The student is resting at home under the care of physicians.
The University is in the process of contacting those who may have had close contact with the infected student and may need preventative medication.
The e-mail alert stressed that the "vast majority" of the Penn community is not at risk of infection, since the measles mumps and rubella - or MMR - vaccine is required for all Penn students.
Common symptoms of measles include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes.
Any graduate, undergraduate or professional student experiencing these symptoms should seek treatment at Student Health Services.
