Kenan Thompson performs with Mask & Wig and other comedy troops at ComFest at Zellerbach Auditorium.

Remember watching Nickelodeon back in elementary school? If so, you probably recall the hilarious antics of Kenan and Kel.

Last night, Penn got to see half of the comedic duo as Kenan Thompson hosted the Mask and Wig Club's Tenth Annual Comedy Festival at Zellerbach Auditorium. The show also included performances by three other comedy troupes from nearby schools - Princeton's Triangle Club, Boston College's Hello Shovelhead! and University of Maryland's Sketchup.

Each year Mask and Wig's ComFest showcases premier college comedy troupes and past hosts have included Stephen Colbert and Bob Saget.

The show opened with skits from Sketchup. Following them, Hello Shovelhead! sang a spoof of "Part of Your World" from Disney's The Little Mermaid. The version managed to transform chauvinistic men into feminist supporters.

Another of their skits featured a fake Bear Grylls, host of the Discovery Channel's survival show Man vs. Wild, giving survival commentary on a freshman's typical Saturday night.

"They were the funniest . after Mask and Wig, of course!" College freshman Suzie Connell said.

The Triangle Club performed next. After a little rivalrous jeering from the audience, they started their act with a skit playing on the infamous Facebook News Feed, imagining live Facebook staff members always ready and willing to update you on your friends' lives.

Penn concluded the show with a varied lineup. As a special surprise, all their skits showcased host Kenan Thompson. In his various roles he appeared as an airplane pilot, a monk and even Jamie Lynn Spears.

Mask and Wig member and College junior Rubin Henriquez explained, "We actually only had about an hour of rehearsal with him before the show. He memorized a lot of the lines beforehand."

College and Wharton senior Samir Malik summed up much of the audience's sentiment: "It was cool seeing Kenan in the acts . a lot of fun."

However, some people would have liked to see Kenan do a bit more stand-up. "It was kind of disappointing that we couldn't have seen him do more on his own," Connell said.

You'll have to watch Saturday Night Live and Kenan and Kel re-runs for that.
