For the first time in a month, the Quakers football team played a game that ended in regulation. And also for the first time in a month, Penn won.
On Senior Day at Franklin Field, the Quakers defeated No. 17 Harvard, 22-13, ending a three-game losing streak. The Crimson's loss puts a huge dent in their title hopes, as they would need to defeat Yale next week and hope that Dartmouth defeats Princeton to clinch even a share of the title.
The Crimson struck first with a touchdown midway through the first quarter, but Penn scored twice before the period was over, and would never relinquish its lead. Kicker Braden Lepisto hit two field goals, including a 38-yarder, and by halftime it was 20-13 Penn.
The Quakers put the game out of reach with about seven minutes left in the game with a safety, thanks to one of Anthony Melillo's many great punts on the day.
Penn will try to end the season on a high note (and above .500) in Ithaca next weekend, against 2-4 Cornell, who today delivered Columbia its first Ivy win in the last 15 attempts.
