W. Tennis beats Tigers

The No. 42 women's tennis team (7-4-1) started its Ivy League season with a win. The Quakers beat Princeton (6-7) by a score of 6-1.

The match began outdoors but was forced inside due to rain.

The Quakers only lost two matches all day: first doubles and third singles.

Yulia Rivelis, Julia Koulbitskaya, Alexis Plukas, Raluca Ciochina and Caroline Stanislawski each won singles matches.

The Quakers did not win their singles points easily, though. Three matches went to three sets and and four sets required seven games.

Two doubles teams -- Plukas and Ciochina, then Stanislawski and Michelle Mitchell -- won their respective doubles matches.

Despite losing the first doubles match, the other two were won by a score of 8-5.

Penn will next travel to Yale on Friday.
