An altercation outside the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity house early Sunday morning sent one Penn student to the hospital.
The fight broke out at around 3 a.m. between a number of men in front of the 3805 Walnut St. house.
While Penn Police said that the cause of the scuffle isn't clear, they added that they believe alcohol was involved.
According to a student witness who asked not to be identified, about six to 10 people were involved in a fight lasting a few minutes.
A 20-year-old student was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and treated for injuries to his wrists, nose and lip as a result of the fight.
When Penn Police arrived at the scene, the incident had already ended.
Police have made no arrests but are investigating the case. InterFraternity Council President Max Dubin said he is waiting to find out exactly what happened before deciding how to proceed.
Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Scott Reikofski declined to comment until the investigation is complete.
Dubin, a College junior, said incidents like Sunday morning's do not frequently happen. He added that he is unsure whether any wrongdoing occurred.
"I know [TEP] is dealing with this ... from what I understand, everyone is all right, which is the most important thing," Dubin said.
TEP fraternity President and College senior Sushil Deshmukh refused to comment.
"We would hope these incidents don't happen in frequent numbers," former IFC President Spencer Scharff said.
