The sixth-ranked Penn women's squash team wasted no time in its trip to western Massachusetts this weekend, coming home with two shutout victories.
In their first match Saturday against Amherst, the Quakers (5-1, 2-1 Ivy) won every game, giving up more than one point in only two of them.
"As expected, we beat them pretty easily," junior co-captain Paula Pearson said. "We just have more talent than them."
Penn was led by freshman Alisa Turner at the number one spot in the lineup. She defeated Caroline Shannon (9-1, 9-1, 9-1).
At the beginning of the season Turner was fourth in the lineup, but she has since won the number one spot by winning her challenge matches -- ones played between team members to determine roster spots.
Both freshman Tara Chawla and sophomore Chloe Wynn won their matches 9-0, 9-0, 9-0.
Later on, Penn travelled to Williams and completed its second rout of the day.
The Quakers "all had their individual game plans and they executed them," Penn coach Jack Wyant said. "They were being tactical and trying to exploit their strengths and opponents' weaknesses."
Next weekend Penn plays in New Haven, Conn. against Stanford, Bates and Bowdoin.
