It was raining men at the Chrome nightclub on Delaware Avenue Thursday night.
The Alpha Chi Omega sorority held its annual Big Man On Campus event to support Women Against Domestic Abuse, the sorority's national philanthropy.
The fifth annual male beauty pageant -- which raised $8,000, $1,000 more than last year -- featured 12 senior men fighting it out to be named the Big Man on Campus.
The "Pourne Identity," "Hollywood," "Stretch Strong Schlong," "Meatbone," "The Love Doctor," "Kittenpenis," "Tasty Jake," "Africa's Finest," "Mr. Dick Hizinia," "Penn Six...ty Nine Me," "Mr. Big Basketballs" and "Tony Tone" shook, jiggled and danced through five different stages -- but it was "Africa's Finest," Wharton senior Arinze Onugha, who took the title.
The event opened with the contestants dancing to It's Raining Men, followed by a talent portion, a swimsuit competition, formal wear competition and a question-and-answer section.
The event was hosted by College senior and Sigma Chi brother David Delaney and College senior and Alpha Chi Omega sister Tara Santoro.
Delaney admitted that he was nervous before the show but most of his timidity dissipated by showtime.
"Most of the guys were my best friends, and I felt very comfortable," Delaney said.
When the show ended, the Alpha Chi Omega alumni judges voted Onugha the winner of the competition.
Onugha was excited about being voted the Big Man On Campus.
"Fantastic is far beyond a suitable adjective," Onugha said.
Onugha, a member of his own rap group, is no stranger to performing on stage, but he admitted that he "never did anything like this."
During one of the portions of the competition, he danced to R. Kelly's Bump and Grind and the girls in front of the stage tugged at his pants and screamed when he mentioned his extra baggage.
Onugha did not mind the attention.
"Any man's going to appreciate that," Onugha said. "It's almost any dude's dream."
But Onugha's performance was not the only act that stole the show.
College senior Matthew Haefner, aka "Mr. Dick Hizinia," and Wharton senior Christopher Dougherty, aka "The Love Doctor," wore extremely tight jean outfits and imitated a scene from the movie Zoolander by having a walkoff to Michael Jackson's Beat It.
Engineering senior Jake Rosenberg, aka "Tasty Jake," wore orange swim trunks and had water splashed in his face while dancing to the theme song of Baywatch.
Even the contestants that did not win were pleased that they participated in the event.
Wharton senior Amit Bhattacharjee, aka "Meatbone," was not disappointed by the loss.
"It doesn't matter.... It's a charity, it's for fun and everyone's a winner," Bhattacharjee said.
The members of the sorority were pleased by the turnout at the event.
"More people showed up than expected," said Nursing junior Kathleen Murphy, vice president of Risk Management for Alpha Chi.
"The great thing about it was that the guys got into it and it made the show even better."
Nursing junior Megan Mariotti, vice president of Intellectual Development for Alpha Chi, agreed, saying that "the guys were very cooperative and they were fun. We couldn't ask for better guys."
Wharton sophomore Friedrich Ebede was glad he came to the show.
"Once in a while, we need something like this to get off campus," Ebede said.
"I'm so gracious that the guys gave up their time for this event and our cause," College senior and Alpha Chi's President Vivian Rotter said.
"They did a great job," she said. "Despite the rain, we had a fantastic turnout. The whole sorority has been working together to make sure this event was great."
