Dry spell for Koko in summer league games
Koko Archibong spent the final two games of the Phoenix Suns summer league watching his hopes of making an NBA roster this season shrink-- mostly from the bench.
Archibong played 10 minutes July 24 without putting any points on the board. He missed two free throws and grabbed two rebounds. In his final game on July 25 Archibong scored no points and recorded one steal. in three minutes.
In an online interview posted Monday, Suns Assistant Coach Mike D'Antoni indicated that Archibong and the other rookie free-agents who had played in the summer league would not make the regular season roster.
D'Antoni explained that the free agents on the roster knew that the Suns would have 13 players after signing their draft picks and that -- barring something unforeseen -- there would not be roster space. He added that most of the players took spots in the summer league to get playing time in front of european scouts.
