Faculty Exhibition

Addams Hall Gallery

200 S. 36th Street

9 a.m. to 5 p.m., free

Now, your art professor has been telling you what to do for the past month and though he seems to know what he's doing, you're beginning to think that he's just a Picasso wannabe who couldn't hack it. Well, here's your chance to see what he has to offer and critique his art. The Faculty Exhibition offers a chance for university professors to put their artwork on display to be misinterpreted and mocked by more people who don't know what they're talking about. Either that or you will realize that your prof actually does know what he's talking about and that you really are talentless. It's a win-win situation.

Smothers Brothers

Keswick Theatre

Glenside, Pa.

8 p.m., $35

(215) 572-7650

The `60s, `70s and `80s saw The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, The Smothers Brothers Show, The Smothers Summer Show, Tom Smothers Organic Prime-Time Space Ride come and go, return, and then depart again. It took a few years, but the musical/comedic duo has finally learned its lesson and is plying its talents on tour and on-stage. Let's hope its act contains more creativity than the names of its shows did.

Isaac Julien: the Long Road to Mazatlan

Fabric Workshop Museum

1315 Cherry Street

Reception 5:30 p.m., Lecture 6 p.m.

Gallery through October 20, free

(215) 568-1111

Looking with eager and critical eye at the myths and stereotypes that built Clint Eastwood's career, Isaac Julien presents his take on the American West with his latest exhibit, The Long Road to Mazatlan. As if we didn't already know that the Western film genre has died and made way for the ghetto fabulous lifestyle of the hood, Julien reminds us one more time. But he's an artist, so redundancy is acceptable.

Dropkick Murphys

Electric Factory

Seventh and Willow streets

8:30 p.m., $12 advance, $14 door

(215) 627-1332

Bono eat your heart out. They're Irish, they drink and they play a bad ass bagpipe punk. This Boston based septuplet can do it all--the tin whistle, the mandolin, and the electric guitar. The Murphys provide the perfect excuse to drink a pint and then get buckwild. If they suck, it'll be worth going just to throw Lucky Charms at the stage. Oh Danny boy!

CSA Cultural Show

Performance

Iron Gate Theater

37th and Chestnut streets

7 p.m.

There's more to China than a crouching tiger. The Chinese Students' Association presents its annual cultural show, exploring themes of both ancient China and the lifestyle of Chinese Americans. Both written and performed by Penn students, the performance not only provides an opportunity for people to learn about the Chinese culture, but the Chinese culture that sits next to them in class.
