To the Editor: Together with our colleagues Rabbi Howard Alpert, executive director of Hillel Greater Philadelphia and Jeremy Brochin, director of Penn Hillel, the PRCC is committed to supporting the spiritual and religious concerns of the Penn community, respect for different religious communities and mutual support in the practice of professional religious life work. While the motivation and person responsible for this egregious act are not yet known, the PRCC here affirms our basic commitment to a community in which freedom of expression and religious practice are central to the mission and well-being of the University and its citizens. Further, an act of aggression against any member of the PRCC is an act against the whole group and the principles for which it stands. We are, as Dr. Martin Luther King said, "bound together in an inextricable web of mutuality." Whatever affects one affects the others. We are grateful for the students and our colleagues at Hillel. Together with other religious communities and other members of the Penn community we affirm the presence, contributions and commitment of Hillel in and to the Penn family. William Gipson University Chaplain The letter was signed by representatives from 10 other religious organizations affiliated with the PRCC.
