Complacency seems to have set in with the Penn men's soccer team. The Quakers (0-3), who entered this season hoping to post their first winning campaign since 1984, returned from Villanova's Burns Field yesterday satisfied with the way they played against the Wildcats (3-3-2). Villanova won the game, 2-1, when its leading scorer, Jon Correll, scored his second goal of the game in overtime -- putting his season total at 13 points. Penn had already lost to La Salle and Dartmouth this year. In this game, the Quakers proved that, at least in terms of offensive production, when it rains, it doesn't necessarily pour. Penn got on the board first when forward Morgan Blackwell scored the team's first goal of the year on a low-cross pattern at 10:15 of the first half. The Quakers, however, did not do any more scoring, despite having several excellent opportunities throughout the match. "We had four or five chances where we just had to get the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net, but they were kicked wide or over the crossbar," Quakers coach George O'Neill said. The general consensus among the Penn players was that they outplayed the Wildcats, with the exception of the accuracy of their shots on goal. "Soccer's a funny game," Penn fullback Brad Copeland said. "The best team doesn't always win. Our biggest problem against Dartmouth was our midfield, but they did a great job today. They dominated the game for us."
