Macik named All-American

Compiled by DP Sports Staff The three-time all-Ivy selection, who broke the Ancient Eight record for career receptions and holds nearly every school record for receiving, caught 68 passes for 816 yards this season. Macik, along with Quakers' offensive tackle Bill Glascott, was also chosen as first-team ECAC, while strong safety Nick Morris and defensive end Tom McGarrity earned second-team honors. Glascott was a consistent performer for a Penn offense that averaged nearly 383 yards per game during the season. Morris led the Quakers with 106 tackles and forced five turnovers, while McGarrity, one of the Ivy League's premier pass rushers, anchored the defensive line. · Macik, Glascott, Morris and McGarrity were also four of nine Quakers chosen to travel to Japan as members of the Epson Ivy Bowl roster. Cornerback Kevin Allen, free safety Dana Lyons, linebacker Joey Allen, wide receiver Felix Rouse and tight end Matt Tonelli were also named to the squad. The Epson Ivy Bowl pits a 43-man all-star team of Ivy League seniors against a team of Japanese university and college players. This year's contest, scheduled for January 7 at Osaka's Hankyu Nishimomiya Stadium, marks the sixth consecutive year of the international all-star game. The Ancient Eight all-stars have never lost an Epson Ivy Bowl game, outscoring the Japanese teams by a combined score of 190-37 during the past five years.
