The memorial included speeches from University President Judith Rodin and Eli Avidor of the Israeli consulate of Philadelphia -- both of whom spoke of Rabin as not only an Israeli leader, but a world leader. They also stressed the importance of continuing the peace process. The service ended with a traditional Jewish mourning prayer and the singing of the Israeli national anthem, "Hatikva." Attendees signed a book of condolences which is still available for signing in the Hillel building. Next week, it will be sent to the Rabin family. Students said the ceremony was extremely touching and inspirational. "I thought is was a very moving exhibition," College sophomore Ariel Fishman said. "I was very glad to see Judith Rodin as well as the representative from the Israeli consulate. "I felt a huge sense of community that I wasn't the only one feeling a huge sense of loss because of what happened," she added. --Jamie Phare
