A male student was shot in the shoulder and robbed at gunpoint by four males Thursday, University Police said yesterday. University Police Sergeant Keith Christian said the student was not seriously injured in the attack which took place at about 11:33 p.m. near 42nd and Osage streets. The student was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after the attack, where he was seen for the bullet wound sustained to his shoulder, Christian said. Philadelphia police officers arrested three of the four assailants, Christian said. But, at this point, police have no other suspects in custody. While the student reportedly found a gun at the crime scene the next day, police have yet to verify the weapon as the one used in the shooting, University Police Commissioner John Kuprevich said. In another incident over break, a male and a female student were reportedly assaulted by two other male students, Christian said. Christian said the students reported being assaulted by two intoxicated students with a barbell late in the evening on Christmas Eve in the 4000 block of Locust Street. Both students were taken to HUP for treatment, but were released soon afterward, Christian said. The woman sustained an injury to her head and received five stitches, but the male graduate student, who received an injury to his eye, declined medical treatment, he added. The two male student suspects in the case were arrested by police. They were arraigned yesterday and charged with aggravated assault, Sergeant Thomas Rambo said. The case was also turned over to the Judicial Inquiry Office for investigation.
