Compiled by DP Sports Staff In addition to these awards, sophomore wide receiver Miles Macik was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year – an award for which both freshmen and sophomores were eligible this year. Macik was the unanimous choice of seven Ivy League coaches. Penn coach Al Bagnoli, who was not able to vote for his own players, gave his first-place vote to Brown running back Marquis Jessie. The 6-4 Macik broke all sorts of Penn records in his first varsity season. Thirteen of his 72 catches were good for touchdowns – both Quaker records. He already ranks sixth in all-time catches by a Penn wideout (the record is 121). Macik also earned first-team all-Ivy status – the only sophomore on the entire first team. Joining the 6-4 Quaker receiver on the first-team offense were junior tailback Terrance Stokes, junior center Pete Giannakoulis and senior kicker Marc Horowitz. Stokes, Giannakoulis and Horowitz were unanimous selections to the first team. The Penn defense placed four players on the first team as well. Senior co-captain and defensive end Dave Betten headed the unit, with senior strong safety Jim Magallanes and the dynamic linebacking duo of senior Andy Berlin and junior Pat Goodwillie rounding out the Quaker first-teamers. Goodwillie, last year's Ivy Rookie of the Year, was a unanimous selection to the first team. Six Quakers were named to the all-Ivy second team. Leading the way was Penn senior quarterback Jim McGeehan. McGeehan, who broke every Quaker passing record in the book this year, also finished second behind Princeton running back Keith Elias in the Bushnell Cup voting for the Ivy League's best player. Elias earned 26 points (five first-place votes) while McGeehan tallied 19 (two first-place votes). Third place went to Dartmouth quarterback Jay Fiedler (16 points, one first-place vote), who was the first-team all-Ivy QB. Two other members of the Quaker offense joined McGeehan on the second team. Senior co-captain and offensive lineman Frank Caccuro as well as senior wide receiver Chris Brassell were awarded second-team status. On defense, three juniors earned second-team recognition – defensive end Michael Turner, nose guard Chris Johnson and cornerback Jamie Daniels.
