The Alpha Chi Omega sorority has a new place to call home. The chapter held a dedication ceremony Tuesday for its new house at 3906 Spruce Street. Chapter President Colleen Lynch said 22 women of the chapter's 110 sisters will be living in the 13-bedroom house. Lynch said the sorority has a 25-year lease on the house. The hour-long dedication included speeches by Lynch, National Vice President for Alumni Mary Ford and Alpha Chi Omega Housing Corporation President Andrea Dobin. Vice Provost for University Life Kim Morrisson and all members of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs were in attendance. Lynch said all fraternity and sorority presidents were invited as well. Dobin said in February that the sorority had to leave its former house, at 4040 Walnut Street, because it lacked a sprinkler system and a long-term lease was unobtainable. The biggest benefit of the new house, Lynch said, is the full meal plan which is included. "We have an executive chef who used to cook at Lebec-Fin," the College senior said. "[The plan] consists of cold breakfast every day, dinners Sunday through Thursday and brunch on Sunday." Up to 40 out-of-house sisters can eat in the house each night in addition to those who live there, Lynch added. She said that the sorority is very excited about the move. "All members of Alpha Chi are extremely excited about having this permanent house on campus because for everybody it symbolizes the presence and strength of Alpha Chi on Penn's campus for many years to come," she said.
