Philadelphia Police arrested two men fleeing from the scene of a robbery at St. Mark's Avenue and Locust Street Tuesday at 11:40 p.m., University Police said yesterday. Police suspect that the men are also repsonsible for two earlier robberies committed that night. The first robbery occurred at 11:06 p.m. between 41st Street and Baltimore Avenue, University Police Lieutenant Susan Holmes said. Police said that a University student called to report that he had been approached by two men who demanded his money. The student said that one of the men displayed a silver-plated gun. The two men then fled north on 41st Street, Holmes said. The second robbery took place about 11:20 p.m. at 43rd Street and Osage Avenue. While the officer was taking this call, another call came through concerning a third robbery occuring at St. Mark's Square and Locust Street. Philadelphia police observed the robbers running from the scene of the third robbery and arrested them. The two men were apprehended on the 300th block of St. Mark's Square. Police recovered a .22 caliber, silver revolver, the gun used in all three robberies. The first two complainants, the student and a man not affiliated with the University, positively identified the two men as the robbers, according to police. The third complainant did not press charges. In an unrelated incident, someone smashed a window at Marty's Dollars Worth, located at 40th and Walnut streets, at about 3 a.m., police said. No arrests were made in connection with the damaged property.
