I am extremely offended after reading Sumeet Goel's article "Allow Two Weeks For Shipping" (DP 2/7/92). In his effort to describe a typical Penn student, he managed to negate the entire population of female students at Penn. His claim that a "model Penn student" is male reveals latent sexism that we find so often in our society. Perhaps if he takes a real good look at our campus, he will realize that he will never find any female Penn student with a James Dean/Dylan/Brandon haircut. He is a hypocrite in condemning conformity while he himself conforms to the subtle sexist opinions of men. Anyway, I would like to point out to Goel that conformity is just a phase. The only consolation is that while Joe Penn the conformist is wasting his time examining his closet, Josephine Penn, the innovative and original individual who is part of the driving force behind progress and evolution, will be the true representative of a typical Penn student.
