Vet School Dean Edwin Andrews imposed severe sanctions against Microbiology Professor Jorge Ferrer's research despite the fact that investigators found no misconduct in Ferrer's experiment. In addition, the investigative committee found that the students and staff exposed to the lambs carrying the virus run no risk of contracting the disease. "The sanctions imposed by the dean violate the University's procedures applied to this case," said Ferrer in a statement released earlier this month. According to established faculty rules, in order to file a grievance, a request must be submitted to an investigative committee first. Ferrer has sent out a request for his grievance, and must go through a series of processes before his grievance will become official. -- Melissa Fragnito
