On Thursday night and again on Sunday night, the steering committee and volunteers will conduct a "phone-a-thon," part of a drive to raise enough money to establish a room in the proposed campus center. The money will be a "gift from the senior class to the future students," said College senior Jodi Krasilovsky who is chairing the steering committee. The Steering Committee is also sponsoring the Senior Screamer at Cavanaugh's Thursday night. Seniors will also be able to pledge money at the event. In past years, Senior Gift money was given to the Penn Fund which is used to aid University students. This year, in an effort to further involve class members, the steering committee came up with a list of four possible gifts. Committee members then sent ballots out to allow seniors to vote. The class chose to create a "Class of 1991 Meeting Room" in the new campus center. However, students can still opt to give to the Penn Fund rather than to the room. Also this year the steering committee is asking seniors to donate $19.91 rather than signing over a deposit which was generally made by their parents their freshman year, as has been done traditionally. The request was made "to build more class unity," said Krasilovsky. Arden Williams, Director of Young Alumni Programs is expecting to raise approximately $10,000 from the class. She also said that Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Gluck, parents of a senior, will match the donations by half. -- Heidi Gleit
