Rettew said that immediately after the incident, the house's fire alarms went off and the brothers evacuated the residence. Within five minutes, both local fire officials and University Police had responded to the alarms, Rettew said. However, he explained that it took 30 minutes for the water to be shut off since Physical Plant officials initially dispatched an electrician to the scene. The second-floor room, Rettew said that "everything was pretty well damaged." He added that the recently-renovated first floor and the basement also suffered major water damage. Rettew said that he believed that the damage to the house itself would be paid for by the University's insurance. He added that the house will be back to normal in time for planned Parents Weekend activities. -- Drew ZollerComments powered by Disqus
