Backstreet was one of three popular campus hangouts whose liquor licenses were not renewed by the Liquor Control Board because of the establishments' histories of being cited for serving alcohol to minors. Backstreet owner Mark Wright said October 31 that he was not sure if he would remain open because his business is "about 50/50 food and alcohol." The bar was cited four times in the past two years for serving minors, and received a seven-day suspension last year. -- Matthew Klein
