Michael Delli Carpini, dean of the Annenberg School for Communication, has been recommended for reappointment, according to an e-mail statement from Penn President Amy Gutmann and Provost Vincent Price.

If approved by the Board of Trustees at its February meeting, Delli Carpini would be the school’s dean until June 30, 2015.

His first term was “characterized by marked success across major dimensions: faculty recruitment and retention, student quality and satisfaction, financial and administrative management, grant-funded research and engagement with the broader community,” according to the statement.

Provost Vincent Price, who previously taught Communications 125, said “Michael [Delli Carpini]’s work has received extremely positive reviews.”

He added that Annenberg is a leader in its field, and “though it’s easy to rest on your laurels, Michael has not done that.”

Professor of Communication Joseph Cappella, said the reappointment is “very, very well-deserved.”

“We look forward to Michael’s leadership over the next few years,” he added.
