To the Penn community,
In response to the Westboro Baptist Church coming to Hillel this morning, different communities from across our campus have come together to turn an execrable message into a positive rallying point in our community.
Today is a monumental occasion in Penn’s history; regardless of whether the Westboro Baptist Church actually comes, our diverse population has united as one in order to show that, despite our differences, there are certain things that we as rational individuals will not tolerate.
In order to claim today as a victory for compassion over hatred, empathy over bigotry, and diversity over insularity, we encourage you to come show your solidarity. We will be collecting money to support the Anti-Defamation League and the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
