Dining options near campus will expand with the opening of Tom Drinker’s West and Sang Kee Noodle House, both on Chestnut Street.

Drinker’s West, located in the Chestnut Hall apartment building at 39th and Chestnut streets, offers a wide variety of pub food such as sliders, fries and brick-oven pizzas, as well as 12 draft beers, all at prices that will “keep your wallet somewhat full,” said Drinker’s Marketing Manager Adria Eichner.

Drinker’s will feature daily specials, including $10 all-you-can-eat tailgate Sundays from 4-8 p.m. or 8 p.m. to midnight.

Drinker’s West is the third Drinker’s establishment from 4 Corners Management, which also owns Drinker’s Pub near Rittenhouse Square, and Drinkers Tavern in Old City.

According to Eichner, the restaurant group wanted to bring the Drinker’s concept to University City to better accommodate the college crowd.

The new establishment also has a private mezzanine level with its own bar, Eichner said, and is encouraging students to use the space for parties.

Drinker’s is planning a New Years Eve celebration, and will start promoting the new location heavily when students return from winter break, Eichner said.

Further east down Chestnut street, Sang Kee Noodle house opened in the Sheraton University City at 36th and Chestnut streets.

Also the third restaurant in its family, Sang Kee Restaurant Group, the Noodle House joins Peking Duck House in Chinatown and Sang Kee Asian Bistro in Wynnewood, Pa. The Noodle House combines dishes from both of the group’s previous restaurants.

Lastly, the long-awaited City Tap House, formerly known just as Tap House, is expected to open on the Radian’s second floor later this month.
