The Social Planning and Events Committee elected its new executive board in a closed election on Monday night.

Newly elected members are:

- President: College junior Max Cancre.

- Vice President: College junior Anna Raper.

- Treasurer: College junior Tony Rizzo.

- Secretary: Engineering junior Lindsay Motlin.

"Each member on exec is an extremely strong leader," Wharton senior and outgoing SPEC president Catey Mark said.

Cancre echoed those sentiments, pointing to strong representation from different areas of SPEC. Three of its nine subcommittees - Spring Fling, Connaissance and Concerts - are represented in the new board.

Two of Cancre's goals for next year will be to increase the SPEC "brand name" and to reach out to other social planners on campus.

He added that he wants to make sure people know that various SPEC projects, like the craft show on Locust Walk and the art gallery, are all put on by the same organization.

To achieve this, Cancre said the body needs to market its events in a more creative way than just flyering.
