BRIEF: Nine recommended for faculty comm.

According to Sente Chair Louise Shoemaker, faculty members have until November 25 to make other recommentdations for the nominating committee. After that time, the Senate will vote by mail on the matter. The committee, once named, will be responsible for nominating faculty to fill Senate executive positions, as well as several committee memberships. According to Shoemaker, the names of the committee members were mailed to all faculty members. "We do it by mail to get a better return," Shoemaker said. The nine nominees are: Social Sciences Associate Dean Ivar Berg, Statistics Professor John de Cani, Romance Languages Professor Lucienne Frappier-Mazur, Associate Finance Professor Jamshed Ghandi, University Professor of Materials Science and Engineering Louis Girifalco, Communications Professor Larry Gross, Biochemistry and Dental Professor Daniel Malamud, Associate Physiology Professor Martin Pring and Associate History Professor Jack Reece. -- Margaret Kane
