W h ile Darren Wilson has not been formally indicted in the shooting death of Ferguson teen Michael Brown, a trial of another sort has already begun to take shape among the American public — the trial against Michael Brown’s character. On the eve of his funeral, New York Times columnist John Eligon wrote an expose on the teen’s life describing him as “no angel.” Despite Brown’s promise as a recent high school graduate and his nonexistent public record, the media has searched for every detail that would prove the Ferguson PD’s narrative — that Michael Brown, unarmed, was an inherent threat to his community.

A s a high school student, I absolutely loved Tumblr. You know, that blogging site where you can lose hours of your life scrolling through pictures from music and TV fanatics, girls with film cameras and animal enthusiasts. I once came across a post that affectionately referred to the platform as the “feminist cat website.” That about sums it up.

Every week, hundreds of Penn students file into dusty classrooms in West Philadelphia’s middle and high schools where they tutor students in math, English and science. We know that campus is full of aspiring fashionistas willing to wake up early and follow fashion photographers around in hopes of Teen Vogue glory, so we can only imagine your surprise when you arrived at Penn, only to learn that Heidi Klum was right--and Philly's fashion scene was definitely out.

I used to really love magazines. I have distinct memories of stealing issues of “Seventeen” and “YM” from my orthodontist’s waiting room. My sister and I would gesture to each other, wordlessly evaluating which ones were worth the risk — a “Teen People” was better than, say, a “Girl’s Life.” On our way out, we’d slip the glossies under our arms or acrylic school sweaters and scurry away, thrilled.

A proud teen mama, (and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Ambassador...huh,) Bristol Palin has travelled the U.S. advocating for abstinence, earning her the name "The Worst Person In The World". Now, thanks to some questionably-legit fliers, she's coming to Penn! No offense B, but Penn kids are active, and the university dishes out more free condoms than acceptance letters. But hey, make yourself at home, just don't be shocked when we choose bad sex over no sex.

There was a time when The WB, now The CW, was the go-to place for sentimental but entertaining teen dramas full of fleshy, interesting characters. But the days of “Dawson’s Creek,” “Felicity” and “7th Heaven” have come and gone. Now, the programming seems to mostly be about attractive, supernatural people.
