In its final tuneup before Ivy League play begins on Saturday, the women's soccer team improved to 3-3-1 with a dominating 3-0 win over UMBC (1-9-0).
Kristin Kaiser started the scoring at 25:52 with a rebound off a shot that was deflected by a UMBC defender.
Although the Quakers seemed to come out of the gates slowly in the first half, they had several missed scoring opportunities.
It was all Penn after the break, as the Quakers dominated possession and outshot UMBC, 14-2. At 59:58, Michelle Drugan increased the lead to two after streaking from behind midfield through the UMBC defense to the goalie box.
Allyson Gordon deposited a pass from Molly Weir inside the near post to finish the scoring at 80:37.
With 25 seconds left in the match, there was a scary moment as Weir collided with UMBC goalkeeper Catie Bukowski at full speed. Neither player appeared seriously injured, though Bukowski remained on the ground for a few minutes before leaving under her own power.
