Yale tailback Mike McLeod has gotten off to a slow start this season, as he picked up just 57 yards against Cornell on Saturday.

Brown snapped its eight-game losing streak against Harvard on Saturday, coming back and outlasting the Crimson, 24-22, in Providence, R.I.

Despite jumping out to an early 13-0 lead by scoring touchdowns on its first two possessions (it missed an extra point), Harvard was soon plagued by costly fumbles, on which Brown capitalized.

Midway through the second quarter and into the third, the game grounded to a halt. But the Bears were able to re-energize themselves with a seven-play, 78-yard touchdown drive.

Down 24-16, Harvard attempted to mount a comeback and scored a touchdown with 1:03 left.

Yet the two-point conversion attempt was stuffed and the subsequent onside kick was recovered by Brown, giving it the win.

Cornell 17, Yale 14

With memories of last season's 51-12 loss to Yale in mind, Cornell got its revenge, shutting down the Bulldogs for a 17-14 win Saturday in Ithaca, N.Y.

The Big Red's game plan focused on pressuring Yale's quarterback tandem of Brook Hart and Ryan Fodor, and shutting down All-Ivy running back Mike McLeod. They succeeded beyond even their own expectations, holding the Bulldogs to zero net rushing yards on 28 attempts.

It was an ugly game all around, as Cornell only managed 221 offensive yards to Yale's 209. But the Big Red took care of the ball, turning it over only once on an interception, while Yale fumbled thrice and also threw it away.

UNH 42, Dartmouth 6

No. 7 New Hampshire dominated Dartmouth en route to a 42-6 "Granite Bowl" win in Hanover, N.H., on Saturday.

Sophomore running back Sean Jellison ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter, and the Wildcats never looked back from there. They added two more scores in the second quarter to post a 28-0 halftime lead.

The Big Green finally got on the board with a touchdown at the end of the third, but - emblematic of their night - missed the extra point.

Showcasing a balanced attack, New Hampshire outgained Dartmouth, 525- 238, in total offensive yards.

Towson 31, Columbia 24

For the second week in a row, Columbia fought hard but ultimately lost, this time on the road against Towson.

Down 17-7 at halftime, Columbia scored on a field goal and two touchdowns in the third quarter to tie it at 17.

However, Towson quarterback Sean Schaeferok led the Tigers on a 7:26, 17-play drive that culminated in a 1-yard touchdown pass to tight end Wes White.

Weather conditions stymied the Lions throughout the fourth quarter. Although they were able to tie the game at 24, the Lions surrendered a 60-yard kickoff return that set up the winning touchdown for Towson.

Princeton 10, Lehigh 7

In the final minute of a tie game against Lehigh, Princeton found itself up against the wall.

The Mountain Hawks were just out of field goal range, electing to go for it on 4th-and-1 from the Tigers' 33. A first down and Princeton's hopes for a regulation victory would be all but naught.

Instead, the defensive line came up big, stopping running back Matt McGowan in his tracks. One play later, Tigers quarterback Brian Anderson rolled right and hit Will Thanheiser inside Lehigh's 21 yard-line.

After three rushes to kill clock and inch closer, Connor Louden sailed one through the uprights for the Tigers' first win of 2008.

Anderson finished 20-of-29 for 244 yards, while Thanheiser caught nine passes for 120 yards.
