Former Quaker Mark DeRosa sits in second-place among second baseman in all-star balloting for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game as of Tuesday.
DeRosa, whose Chicago Cubs currently are in possession of the best record in baseball, has put together one of the best seasons of his career.
His batting average is fluctuating around .300 and he already has 8 home runs and 36 runs batted in.
His career highs in those categories are 13 and 76, respectively.
Chase Utley, the second baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies, currently leads all voters. He holds an advantage over DeRosa by nearly one million votes.
DeRosa has seen a few different cities in his career, spending time in Atlanta and Texas before seemingly finding a home in Chicago with the upstart Cubs.
DeRosa has hit .280 with 56 home runs and 301 RBIs in the major leagues since graduating from Penn.
