Stephen Egee is no stranger to Penn - his brother Kevin is a junior on the hoops team - and might like to make the Palestra his home for the next four years.
The younger Egee says his brother has not tried to convince him to attend Penn, but that through Kevin, he has gotten a firsthand opinion on the coaches and team.
And Steven says he doesn't even think about it that much.
"He would only be there for one year," the 6-foot-3 Ridley, Pa. native said. "I would be there three years without him. I guess it's pretty cool, though."
If Penn stays intact, the Quakers should return eight guards for the 2008-09 season and already have commitments for the class of 2012 from 6-foot-1 guard Zack Rosen and 6-foot-5 guard Rob Belcore.
"They do have a lot of guards coming in, but a lot of teams have a lot of guards," Egee said. "As it is with all recruits everyone wants to play, but it's not the biggest concern. A good education is, which you can get in the Ivy League."
Egee said he is also considering Princeton and Columbia from among the Ivies, as well as William & Mary and George Mason, but is still feeling out the different programs and isn't leaning towards one.
Egee said "Penn has recruited me a little bit."
While he said he would like to make a decision before basketball season starts, Egee has other things on his mind right now. He doubles as the starting quarterback for the Ridley High School team.
And because of that, while he has been to schools unofficially, Egee has yet to squeeze in official visits between his football games.
When that ends, he'll have to jump right into hoops. With seven seniors returning for Ridley, Egee thinks his team's prospects look good for the season.
"Football shape is completely different shape than basketball, hopefully I'll be ready," Egee said. "Right when the season ends I will be in the gym doing sprints and shooting."
