Quakers put Brown away early

M. Hoops leads by double-digits for entire second half, improves to 3-0 in Miller's homecoming

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Unlike Fran Dunphy's return to the Palestra, there would be no late drama in Glen Miller's return to Brown.

The Quakers made sure of that, building a 15-point halftime lead and keeping the lead in double figures for the entire second half in their 77-61 win at the Pizzitola Center.

Penn (12-7, 3-0 Ivy) exploited the Bears' 1-3-1 halfcourt trap in the first half, consistently finding the open man. It paid off to the tune of 7-for-10 shooting from beyond the arc and a 41-26 lead.

Brown (6-14, 1-4) narrowed the gap to 12 points thrice and 11 points once in the second half, but each time, the Quakers responded with points on the ensuing possession.

Friday night was a breakout game for Tommy McMahon, who benefited from the great ball movement the most. The sophomore converted three straight easy layups early in the first half and hit three three-pointers on the night for 15 points.

Mark Zoller scored a game-high 18, Brian Grandieri added 17, and Ibrahim Jaaber approached a triple-double with 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

One point of concern for the Quakers is the offensive output of Steve Danley, who was held without a field goal for the third time in four games.
