DUI
n Nov. 24 -- A Penn Police officer was reportedly sitting in his patrol car at about 3:10 a.m. when the driver of a purple 1993 Dodge Neon sideswiped the police cruiser. The Neon stopped and the officer questioned the driver, Nicole Pecoraro, 19, of the 1200 block of Wolf Street in South Philadelphia. The officer suspected that Pecoraro was intoxicated based on his conversation with her.
She was arrested and transported to the Philadelphia Police Administration Building at Eighth and Arch streets in Center City for a Breathalyzer test. She was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Pecoraro is not affiliated with the University. Neither vehicle sustained serious damage and no one was injured.
Theft
n Nov. 23 -- A 26-year-old female employee of the Penn Bookstore -- located at 3601 Walnut St. -- reported her wallet stolen from a locker inside the employee locker room. The wallet reportedly contained $200 in cash. There was a lock on the locker, but it was not secured at the time of the theft, which occurred sometime before 12:30 p.m.
n Nov. 22 -- An employee of the Penn Bookstore saw a man allegedly attempt to leave the store without paying for two hooded sweatshirts with a combined value of $100. Police arrested Kevin Howard, 41, of the 3800 block of Spring Garden Street in the Powelton section of West Philadelphia. He was charged with retail theft.
n Nov. 22 -- At about 6:50 a.m., a 24-year-old female Penn employee reportedly saw a housekeeping employee going through her handbag, which she had left in an office. Nothing was taken. Penn Police are investigating the incident and have not made any arrests.
n Nov. 22 -- At about 2:15 a.m., a FreshGrocer employee reported seeing a customer place items into his jacket and attempt to leave the store. Police arrested James Wade, 29, of the 5300 block of Lebanon Avenue in the Wynnefield section of West Philadelphia.
Wade allegedly attempted to steal five bottles of body wash with a combined value of $25. He was charged with retail theft.
