Two teams moving in opposite directions collide tonight in Easton, Pa. when the Penn women's basketball team takes on Lafayette. Coming off a modest two-game winning streak after beating Drexel and Rider, the Quakers (5-6, 0-0 Ivy) take on the freefalling Leopards (2-10, 0-1 Patriot).
This will be the second game in a six-game road trip for Penn.
After winning its season opener over Maryland-Eastern Shore, Lafayette has lost 10 of 11 games, including eight in a row.
Within that streak, the Leopards fell to Penn's Ivy rivals Harvard and Yale on Dec. 4 and Jan. 5, respectively.
The Leopards are led by freshman forward Vanessa Van De Venter who is averaging 11.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Senior guard Lindsay Myers runs the offense, with 2.75 assists per game and is second on the team in scoring with 8.6 points per game.
Even though the matchup on paper favors the Quakers, as usual in this type of situation, they need to avoid the trap game on the road in their penultimate contest before the Ivy League season opens up Jan. 28 against Yale.
