NCAA votes to maintain lane, three-point line
The Palestra floor will not have to be repainted after all. The NCAA Executive Committee voted last week to keep the current three-point line and free-throw lane.
The NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Rules Committees had proposed moving the line back nine inches from the current 19 feet, nine inches for the 2004-2005 season.
The committee also considered -- and later dismissed -- adopting a trapezoidal free-throw lane similar to the configuration used in Europe.
