M. Cross-Country heads to Lehigh for Paul Short

The Penn men's cross-country team will head to Bethlehem, Pa., tomorrow to compete in the Paul Short Memorial Run hosted by Lehigh University.

The Quakers enter tomorrow's event after taking first place at the Delaware Invitational two weekends ago in Newark, Del.

Junior Stephen Hayes paced the Penn runners at the event, earning second place individually in 26:11.03.

The Red and Blue placed six runners in the top 10 at Delaware.

This year marks the 30th running of the Paul Short Memorial hosted by the Engineers.

Last year William and Mary took first place in the men's eight-kilometer race with 49 team points.

Columbia's Steve Sundell dashed to first place overall in 2002 in a time of 24:48.

Along with the collegiate events for both men and women, the Paul Short Memorial will also include men's and women's open races as well as boys' and girls' high school competitions.

Before their first-place finish two weeks ago in Delaware, the Quakers took second at the Fordham Invitational in New York on Sept. 13.

Junior Nolan Tully led the Quakers with a fifth-place finish individually (25:45) at Fordham.

As a team, the Red and Blue took second overall at Van Cortlandt Park, Fordham's home course.

Penn placed four runners in the top 10 at the Fordham Invite.
