University officials have refused to comment on the investigation of David Dantzler-Wolfe that began prior to his Dec. 10 disappearance. Last week, sources in the University and Philadelphia Police departments said that before his disappearance, the Wharton junior had been under investigation by the University Police Department for allegedly entering a female student's "abode" and videotaping her. Officials, however, would not comment on the investigation's status. "Officially, the only thing we will comment on... [is that] he's a missing person... and that is the primary investigation regarding him," Vice President for Public Safety Maureen Rush said last week. Yesterday, officials remained tight-lipped, refusing to elaborate on the status of the investigation or clarify remarks made last week. "No one will comment on anything other than the missing person investigation," Director of Special Services for University Police Pat Brennan said. Rush was unavailable yesterday for comment. University President Judith Rodin could not be reached for comment yesterday. "He's missing, and we're very concerned about finding him, and that's where all of our efforts are aimed," University spokeswoman Lori Doyle said. Dantzler-Wolfe's family lawyer Steven Fairlie expressed trouble getting information from the administration. "I requested access to interview any witness who is accusing [Dantzler-Wolfe] of anything," Fairlie said. "If there is such a person, I would love to talk to them. I haven't been given any contact information by the University." Brennan had no further comment when asked about any aspect of the investigation before Dantzler-Wolfe's disappearance. "Right now, it is our priority to get David home safe and sound," she said. "This is a confidential investigation, and we will not comment on any aspect of it," Brennan added. Dantzler-Wolfe's friends and family said they hope that he will return to campus safely. "David is an upstanding member of the Penn community," Tommy Lee, friend and fellow member of a cappella group Chord on Blues said. "We want more than anything to get him back here safely." Dantzler-Wolfe's family, through Fairlie, has hired a private investigator to work outside the University's jurisdiction to try to discover any information that may have gone unnoticed, including the possibility of foul play. "I don't have anything that suggests that," Fairlie said. "But I don't know that that can be ruled out. We have a private investigator running full bore, but we don't have any clear-cut leads despite our best efforts. "David's family is ripped apart from the rumors and innuendoes that have come supposedly from the police department, and the latest comments have made it even more unbearable for Mrs. Wolfe," Fairlie continued. "She would accept him with open arms regardless of any trouble he may be in. She just wants him home." Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Dantzler-Wolfe is encouraged to contact the Special Services Department at (215) 898-6600. Reporter Brooke Daley contributed to this report.
