To the Editor: I live in the neighborhood, and had already written a first-person account of my impressions after the murder of Vladimir Sled. I felt President Rodin was hiding behind the problematic Campus Security Act, and said so. Big deal. As your reporter pointed out, I also said I believe Rodin has done a good job overall. Wildes describes Philadelphia Weekly as an "alternative paper," as if that automatically crushes our credibility. And aside from the obvious shock value of using the words "adult entertainment," I'm not sure what advertising in our paper has to do with my editorial or the issue of campus security. Your readers should note that while Rodin speaks glowingly of "diversity'' in the Ivy League, Wildes shows little respect for diversity of opinion that does not tow the official line. Wildes is correct when he draws a distinction between Philadelphia Weekly and NBC. Unlike NBC and Tom Brokaw, Philadelphia Weekly has an ongoing interest in this community, not just the five minutes of national exposure Wildes and Rodin seem so enchanted with. It's too bad that even the slightest disagreement with officialdom is met with smear tactics. Kelvyn Anderson Staff Writer Philadelphia Weekly
