The new information still indicates that the University has the most expensive average rent on both an overall and a rent per day basis. Some University residences, such as the high rises, are open during the University's vacation periods. They are open 251 days per year, whereas residences such as the Quadrangle that are closed during breaks are open only 231 days. This leaves the University's rent per day between $19 and $20. Although some Ivy League housing departments could only provide approximate figures, and some are averages between those residences closed and those residences open during vacations, per-day housing costs, including the University's, average $15 per day. Dartmouth College dormitories cost $17 per day and are open 264 days per year. Princeton University charges the lowest prices -- $10 per day. Princeton's residences are open for 273 days a year. Cornell University, which has residences open 245 days a year, charges $16 per day. Harvard University and Brown University's residences have $15 per day rents. Harvard's residences are open 237 days per year, while Brown's on-campus housing is open for 245 days per year. Both Yale University and Columbia University charge $14 per day. Columbia's residences are open 250 days per year while Yale's are open 253 days per year. Most figures vary slightly from year to year as the dates of most university openings and closings change annually.
