Yet, according to the National Campaign for Student Voting Rights, in the 1992 election, only 47 percent of those eligible to vote in the 18-32 age group actually voted, compared to a 70 percent turnout in the 65 and over age group. It is this kind of apathy that has compelled many politicians to put issues that are important to students on the back burner. Voting is an essential part of the democratic process, a duty of all citizens and an effective way to have issues that are important to you addressed by politicians. And voting has never been easier. Polls have been set up at a variety of off and on campus locations, including Irvine Auditorium, the Dental School, High Rise South and High Rise East. We urge everyone to get out and vote today. You will be doing yourself and your country a favor.
