The French Institute for Culture and Technology needs a new logo. And for the student who designs one that represents France and the Francophone countries, the organization will send him or her to Paris. "It doesn't have to be the most artistic design," French Institute Administrative Assistant Francoise Gamet said. "We are looking for something to really capture the spirit of the francophone countries." Founded two and a half years ago, the Institute is funded by the University and the French Embassy. Its goal is to work with the various schools at the University, to develop new and interesting relationships between people and programs. But since it does not offer classes or give credits, many students are unfamiliar with it. Gamet said she hopes a new logo will carry its name through campus and change that. "This is a very good opportunity to get to know about the program and the french opportunity on campus," Gamet said. The contest, which runs through April 29, is simple. Any student, administrator, or faculty member may submit a design. The design must be on a sheet of eight and a half by 11 inch paper and can not be in more than two colors. It may be accompanied by a brief written explanation. The logo does not have to be from a student of French origin. The designs will be judged, and the winner will receive two round trip tickets to Paris. Books from the Europa section of the bookstore, worth about $100, will go to the runner up. The third place winner will get a $75 gift certificate to Bridgid's restaurant. All designs should either be dropped off or sent to 401 Lauder-Fischer Hall.
