The other team

 

There aren't too many good things about losing in the NCAA Tournament, but there is some consolation in seeing the team that beat you advance deep. Texas held its own in this year's tournament by advancing to the round of eight, something only one other team had done since 1987.

The Longhorns' loss to LSU tonight in the Elite Eight means yet again that the team to knock the Quakers out fo the NCAA Tournament will not win the national championship. Only one team to beat Penn in the Dance has gone on to win it all: Michigan State which defeated the Quakers in the 1979 national semifinal. Three teams, though, have played for the title while six of 11 have lost their next game since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985.
