Game 12: Butler - The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

THE GOOD - Penn's three-point shooting

After coming in shooting just 30 percent from beyond the arc on the season, the Quakers drilled eight of 15 three-pointers at Butler. Miles Cartwright hit three of his four trey attempts as well, keeping Penn in the thick of things until well into the second half. In contrast, the Quakers held the Bulldogs to just 21.1 percent shooting from three-point land on 4-for-19 shooting.

THE BAD - Penn's interior defense

While the Quakers held Butler's second-leading scorer, center Andrew Smith, to just 1-for-7 shooting from the field, their downfall was forward Roosevelt Jones, whose career-high 24 points absolutely killed Penn in the second half. Most of Jones' buckets came from five to seven feet away from the basket. Penn also had trouble containing forward Khyle Marshall, who went 7-for-10 from the field en route to a 14-point performance, higher than his 10.8 points per game average this season. The Quakers also gave up 13 offensive rebounds, most of which also came in the paint for the Bulldogs.

THE UGLY - The second half

Penn's impressive 52.2 percent first-half shooting performance gave way to an ugly 35.7 percent clip in the second stanza, and so went everything else for the Quakers. Flat-footed defense and an increasing lack of patience on offense for the Red and Blue fueled the Bulldogs' 21-5 run to end the game.
