Former Quaker and NFL Hall of Famer Bednarik hospitalized

Various news outlets reported earlier today that former Penn football player and Eagles great Chuck Bednarik was hospitalized and in serious condition after experiencing shortness of breath. He was admitted to nearby St. Luke's hospital, though no comment was given on his condition.

However, Bednarik's son in law told the Philadelphia Daily News that the 85 year old is as "feisty as ever" and able to communicate. He denied claims that Bednarik had suffered a heart attack.

Aside from playing for the Eagles while they competed at Franklin Field, he wore the Red and Blue and played there in the late 1940s.
