Penn O-line coach promoted to offensive coordinator

There had been whispers going around for a while that third-year offensive line coach Jon McLaughlin would take over the offensive coordinator position for Penn. According to a one very reliable source, whose name I am withholding out of courtesy, the decision has indeed been made. Other football insiders I subsequently spoke to, including a couple of graduating seniors and an athletic department source, confirmed that account.

I'm told that head coach Al Bagnoli told the team of McLaughlin's promotion at the team's annual banquet, which was held on Friday. An official announcement from the athletic department could also come very soon.

If you need a refresher, the coordinator spot opened up about three months ago when Bagnoli decided to replace the beleaguered Bill Schmitz after two seasons.
